Summary:
The Chemist - Liquids & Dewatering (DW) Emulsion will perform Laboratory Polymerizations, including Raw Material Qualification, In-Process Support, Toll Manufacturing, or New Product Development.
Must be able to work with production personnel to resolve production issues and introduce a new product or Toll Manufacturing Formulations in the Emulsion Plant.
Responsibilities:
Perform routine laboratory Liquids & DW Emulsion Polymerizations.
Characterize polymer properties according to standard testing procedures.
Assist the Emulsion Plant in new product or Toll Manufacturing introduction.
Work in Cross-Functional Teams to improve Emulsion Process Functions (Cycle Time, Process Improvements, Product Enhancements/Modifications, etc.
).
Monitor raw material storage room to keep all chemicals up to date and in compliance.
Maintain all laboratory notebooks and CetLab (including correspondence, formulations, calculations, analytical results, performance results, etc.
).
Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment.
Follow mandatory safety practices.
Maintain a clean and safe work area.
REQUIREMENTS:
A Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry is required (Organic Preferred).
Minimum 1 year of experience in a Laboratory Environment.
Minimum 1 year of experience in a Laboratory Synthesis preferred.
Minimum 1 year of experience in an Industrial Manufacturing Environment preferred.
Working knowledge of Analytical and/or Organic Chemistry.
Working knowledge of Statistical Controls and Methods.
Polymer polymerization experience preferred.
Ability to work with limited supervision.
Ability to multitask.
Ability to work in cross-functional teams.
Highly motivated and detail-oriented.
Possess good communication skills.
Computer proficiency in MS Office Software Applications.
